Hello! I’m a representative of MPAA. There is a special system of rating films in our country. The movie rating system provides parents to make judjements on movies they want their children to see. There are 5 categories in our country:
1. G (General Audience; all ages admitted)
The violence is at a minimum. Nudity and sex scenes are not presented.
2. PG (Parental Guidence Suggested; some material may be not suitable for children)
This is the film which needs to be examined by parents.
3. PG -13 (Parents strongly coutioned; some material may inappropriate for children under 13)
May contains senes of drug use and sexually derived words may be heard.
4. R (Restricted; children under 17 require accompanying parents)
This is an adult film in some of its aspects. The language may be rough, the violence may be hard.
5. NC-17 (No one under 17 admitted)
This is an adult film and no children are allowed to watch it. May contain sex scenes, scenes of violence and accumulation of sexually-oriented language.
QUESTIONS
1. No, it’s not a law and submitting a film is purely a voluntary decision of filmmakers. But the majority of the produsers do infact submit their films for rating.
2. That abslutly not. Just as I have already said the system of rating films is not a law. And not all parents follow our instructions.
Now we are developing a new code of condact may be to make system a law.
